Atlas 6
The Atlas is a core model from Weapons Grade Guitars, handcrafted in Bedford, UK, and engineered with one clear priority: to be as lightweight and portable as possible without compromising performance.
Weighing around 6 lbs, the Atlas sits in a category of its own. This isn’t weight relief as an afterthought — the entire instrument is designed from the ground up to minimise mass while retaining balance, rigidity, and tonal authority. The result is a guitar that can be worn for hours, carried effortlessly, and relied upon night after night.
For touring players, frequent travelers, and anyone tired of heavy instruments, the Atlas offers full-scale performance in a compact, travel-ready form. Despite its reduced size and weight, the Atlas features a full 24-fret neck with a small, agile profile. Deep body sculpting and an extended cutaway provide exceptionally easy upper-fret access, allowing the highest registers to be reached without obstruction or awkward hand positioning.
Every standard Atlas is built using a carefully selected combination of woods chosen specifically for lightness, stability, and clarity:
Tulipwood body — exceptionally lightweight and resonant, forming the backbone of the Atlas’s low overall mass
Zebrano neck — stiff and stable, ensuring sustain and long-term structural reliability
Roasted maple fretboard — fast, smooth, and resistant to movement
Ebony fretboard cap — added snap and articulation
The body is finished in a high-gloss lacquer, highlighting the contours and grain, while the neck receives a satin finish over it's handcarved modern C profile for a fast, natural feel during extended playing.
Why Lightweight Matters:
Lightweight instruments aren’t just about comfort — they directly affect how a guitar is used, transported, and trusted.
At around 6 lbs, the Atlas reduces physical fatigue during long rehearsals, extended recording sessions, and live performances. Less weight means better balance on the strap, easier movement on stage, and less strain on the shoulder and back over time. For travelling musicians, it also means simpler transport, easier airline compliance, and less overall load without sacrificing performance or durability. All of this is achieved without any neck dive.
Crucially, the Atlas proves that lightweight does not have to mean fragile. Its low mass is the result of deliberate material choice, efficient design, and structural reinforcement where it matters most.
Key Features:
A key design feature of the Atlas is its extended neck shoulder, which increases the contact area between the neck and body. This longer shoulder improves tuning stability, resonance, and structural rigidity, especially important on a lightweight instrument. The neck is secured using six strong screw points, distributing load evenly across the joint. This design enhances sustain, resists movement over time, and ensures the neck remains stable under string tension, temperature changes, and regular use.
The result is a guitar that stays in tune, holds setup reliably, and feels solid despite its low overall weight.
The Atlas is fitted with top-of-the-line CTS electronics throughout, delivering smooth, predictable control and long-term reliability. A coil tap expands the tonal range, allowing seamless movement between full humbucker power and cleaner, more articulate single-coil-style tones.
Tonally, the Atlas is direct and articulate, with excellent note separation and dynamic response. It stays tight under gain, defined when clean, and highly responsive to pick attack and volume changes. The Atlas is a mainstay Weapons Grade model and is built to order. A range of body colours, hardware materials, and pickup configurations are available, allowing each instrument to be tailored to the player while preserving the Atlas’s defining lightweight design.
